TOC FESTIVAL (CUBA, NM) & I-YOU COUNCIL

In 2008, Littleglobe and a group of 150 residents in the Torreon, Ojo Encino and Cuba (TOC) areas of New Mexico created a community festival. Residents subsequently formed the I-YOU Regional Council which is currently administering art and community development projects in the area.

We are hungry for the power of coal. We love it and it is killing us. COAL is a high-end musical and grassroots engagement process that takes us to the heart of this paradox. More than a musical, COAL is an experience that invites us into a shared, imaginative response to our current global situation. Here is a mythical story told through music and theater that brings us together as we shape our common future in the spirit of connection.

TURN THE LENS: COMMUNITY FILM PROJECT

Turn the Lens is a series of filmmaking projects empowering community members to tell their stories. The pilot project, "Centennial Class," is funded by the NM Dept. of Higher Ed/GEAR UP and produced/directed by Littleglobe. The pilot utilizes collaboration and mentorship to create a feature-length documentary about five NM students in their last two years of high school.

SANTA FE BUS OPERA

Littleglobe, in collaboration with city residents, is creating an interactive, inter-media new opera that will premiere on active Santa Fe bus lines. The bus opera will delve into the real and imagined stories, interactions, and personal dreamscapes of bus riders, those who live and work along city bus routes, and city residents.

GARDEN

GARDEN is a series of live, music-driven intermedia performances, developed over five years, that uses linear-immersive media (live music, installation, transparent screens and projected video) to explore expressive, atmospheric, metaphorical and cross-cultural realms of night-time and the intersection of the human and natural environment.

Lifesongs


LIFESONGS

Lifesongs, a project of The Academy for the Love of Learning and Littleglobe, is an intergenerational arts project that promotes social inclusion and dignity for elders and people in hospice care. Central to the Lifesongs process is the artist-facilitated creation of original musical works by people in nursing homes and hospice care. RIVERS RUN THROUGH US


RIVERS RUN THROUGH US

From May 17-20 2012, three Littleglobe artists will walk the length of the Santa Fe River, meeting members of the community who will present river art, restoration projects and other tributes to the river and water. This four-day journey will serve as a deep exploration of our river and the Santa Fe Watershed, catalyzing restoration efforts. Please meet us at the riverbank!

Littleglobe’s Common Ground New Mexico Projects revolve around creative community collaboration and capacity-building. Littleglobe collaborates with inter-generational, diverse communities on long-term, large-scale creative projects that generate significant works of art/performance followed by community-led development work.

Memorylines


MEMORYLINES

Memorylines (2007) was a community inclusive contemporary opera that illuminated Santa Fe’s unique and diverse cultures. The months-long project brought together 25 residents, ages 8 to 87, through a creative process which fostered dialogue, empowerment and empathy. The resulting performance elevated perspectives rarely heard on the main stages of Santa Fe.

The Lines and Circles Project (2008-2010) celebrated the Santa Fe community, encouraged positive relationships within and between families, nurtured meaningful community dialogue, and generated a body of art and poetry that commemorates city life.

SALVE: WOMEN ON WAR & WARRIORSHIP


SALVE: WOMEN ON WAR & WARRIORSHIP

SALVE is a spoken word and musical piece that explores the insights, perspectives, and reflections of women who are returned war veterans.  The performance allows us to bear witness to the lives and sacrifices of warriors and their families, the realities of returning to life after military service, and the costs of war on everyone.

Crossings


CROSSINGS

Crossings was a five-month performance project with The Creative Center for Women With Cancer in partnership with professional artists from the fields of choreography, set design, music and media arts. Crossings sought to break down barriers that exist between art production, healing processes, and performance.

Moment


MOMENT

Commissioned by the European Union Festival of Culture, Moment was a five-month long intergenerational, intermedia, ensemble project involving residents of a sheltered housing project for older adults together with five contemporary artists and students from schools in the area.

Between Here and There


BETWEEN HERE AND THERE

Between Here and There, a commission from Dance City, is the first phase of a long-term project exploring notions of home, transition, migration and displacement based in the Stockton area (UK). This piece, developed over 10 days, is the initial framework of a longer term effort that aims to enact lasting social change through in-depth participatory art=making.

Muse Rescue


MUSE RESCUE

Ben Wright and Molly created this new album over a week to help a friend that has hit hard times. The music is freely distributed by CD and web. People are asked to donate $20 and pass the music along.

One and Many


ONE AND MANY

One and Many was an exploration in performance, sound, and imagery made by a collective of 13 women who came together through their shared experience of living with cancer. This exploration arose as an extension of this group's earlier performance and installation work with CROSSINGS (2001), a performance project based in expression through movement, sculpture, sound, and text.

mJane


MJANE

Founded in New Mexico in 2003 by conductor/composer/performer Molly Sturges, mJane is a project which brings together a wide range of improvisational and compositional ideas through live conduction systems (comprised of hand and eye signals) to create an ever-changing sonic environment belonging uniquely to each performance.

Littleglobe believes that New Mexico ’s wealth lies in the richness and diversity of its multi-ethnic, economically-diverse, and inter-generational population.  The depth and breadth of this diversity provides an unusual potential for New Mexico to lead the nation as a model for racial healing.

MICA Community Arts Fellowship


MICA COMMUNITY ARTS FELLOWSHIP

In 2010, Littleglobe was chosen by the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) to be one of five Community Arts Convening & Research Fellows. Littleglobe's collection of essays about community engagement work has now been published on the MICA website.
