Statewide New Mexico Public High Schools with GEAR UP and PBS
Created in part with the State of New Mexico/GEAR UP and New Mexico PBS, this collaborative documentary film project worked throughout 2010-12 with hundreds of high school students, training them in the skills of filmmaking to create a feature documentary film project that follows six students to explore perspectives, challenges and dreams of their future lives. The resulting hour-long film was then carried nationally across PBS networks under the American Graduate program. The film toured New Mexico, creating dialog and engagement events with thousands of students and families across the State to explore the unique challenges and qualities of the New Mexico educational system and how the adult community can better support our students. Our Time is Now was carried to tens of millions of US homes and was the most watched feature documentary ever produced by NMPBS.
